It's been such a long time since I was posting on here.<div>I AM still in the land of the living - I just ran out of blogging steam as life in general and work in particular took over.</div><div>But SO MUCH HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST COUPLE OF YEARS I CAN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU!</div><div>Anyway, I think I'm now ready to share it again. But somehow this blog doesn't feel like the place to do it, and I'm going to consign it to the archives and start afresh.</div><div>If you want to come with me to my new blog which is all shiny and fresh, you can find it here.....</div><div>www.embroideredoriginals.wordpress.com</div><div>I hope you do!</div><div>There's coffee and cake waiting for you! x</div><div><br></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWGK7mfTH1_sDxb5QCsLWXhzILiD8MIpnJtV2-0EZn7PN4OMyQVi7tiEpxeXy-m4Q8UyCCyznxxwZ30VGGeoB6x_JJ-MrNDGV6sal8L3thSokLT2X7iLxqiUq77to80j2Hr1CI_GgxBQ/s640/blogger-image--2111320898.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJWGK7mfTH1_sDxb5QCsLWXhzILiD8MIpnJtV2-0EZn7PN4OMyQVi7tiEpxeXy-m4Q8UyCCyznxxwZ30VGGeoB6x_JJ-MrNDGV6sal8L3thSokLT2X7iLxqiUq77to80j2Hr1CI_GgxBQ/s640/blogger-image--2111320898.jpg"></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-24932312230663498992013-09-07T14:09:00.001+01:002013-09-07T14:09:57.342+01:00Summer Round UpAugust was a really busy month here at Embroidered Originals. We had the three weeks at the West End Craft Fair during the Edinburgh Festival, and I'm delighted to say it turned out to be our best ever. Even more delighted as this appeared to be the case with almost every other exhibitor I spoke to. The weather had a hand in it - hardly any rain and lots of wall to wall sunshine. Couldn't ask for more.<div>That of course kept us working hard to maintain stock levels and also keep up with the orders coming in from our stockists, not to mention the website. Phew.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCo-ijBc-VJFV8GQVV4-Iy8yPJNCPw3w3M90FWdnw5Oc1e19p6icdgf-AwLOgTnTGcfU1y__GWr4o_L8pdgqEFYKPhUxZoGMaPp7a6qsEP95zjAeJGgaR4PMUwMJq5xcq080ycr1iLPiY/s640/blogger-image-1708552005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCo-ijBc-VJFV8GQVV4-Iy8yPJNCPw3w3M90FWdnw5Oc1e19p6icdgf-AwLOgTnTGcfU1y__GWr4o_L8pdgqEFYKPhUxZoGMaPp7a6qsEP95zjAeJGgaR4PMUwMJq5xcq080ycr1iLPiY/s640/blogger-image-1708552005.jpg"></a></div></div><div>Talking of which I discovered a steep rise in online orders on the last weekend of the Fair, and after some detective work traced it to a little piece about us which had appeared in the Daily Record ( unknown to me). Thanks to a few kind words by Scottish comedian Craig Hill we received as many orders in half an hour that Saturday afternoon as we normally do in a week!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_hOisFo8RREV9zBwoFfMJU4l-9QKjcD2EIHOJK4MOHDv9pYR2FO8hIuPASxGZm7yVcgr5WpTI7f73o7HLdr7o3xIEuIRmhkt4gN8_XWRO9hNZMDaBcwPID9x0RYaysHYC0ZKei9Q4Px0/s640/blogger-image-1967555519.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_hOisFo8RREV9zBwoFfMJU4l-9QKjcD2EIHOJK4MOHDv9pYR2FO8hIuPASxGZm7yVcgr5WpTI7f73o7HLdr7o3xIEuIRmhkt4gN8_XWRO9hNZMDaBcwPID9x0RYaysHYC0ZKei9Q4Px0/s640/blogger-image-1967555519.jpg"></a></div></div><div>After all that you'd think we deserved a holiday but not this year. The day after we packed up in Edinburgh a convoy of builder's vehicles arrived and work started on our long planned extension to make a large kitchen/ diner. Exciting.</div><div>So far we've managed to continue working in the house without any disruption although it will change in a week or two when they start to tear down the connecting wall.....<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5kyaBydR11FdbZGzo3OCpx8K2WXXrJ2uomojSWiM9wvMMnLrkdcSSLCuf3MnWxk7WYMGlmBff7JCMwugqcrGzKy32AdFRQ7G2aorOcS84v5HzzbOLIraHfLqa92bKO-9EW91vX225oTc/s640/blogger-image-1509271135.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5kyaBydR11FdbZGzo3OCpx8K2WXXrJ2uomojSWiM9wvMMnLrkdcSSLCuf3MnWxk7WYMGlmBff7JCMwugqcrGzKy32AdFRQ7G2aorOcS84v5HzzbOLIraHfLqa92bKO-9EW91vX225oTc/s640/blogger-image-1509271135.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6vgTnrxee9I0lPozb1dcFgPnssAppjdJysWs2lOiExlmiGHBjjwHAgd8Mgw5vDOubh95DXgZUwmUjpNE10_7TSnky6F7XIJmS6zcyTdHxBrwNaIIk1WyLZGRcraBAQ490q-Whk_yCyg8/s640/blogger-image--315429429.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6vgTnrxee9I0lPozb1dcFgPnssAppjdJysWs2lOiExlmiGHBjjwHAgd8Mgw5vDOubh95DXgZUwmUjpNE10_7TSnky6F7XIJmS6zcyTdHxBrwNaIIk1WyLZGRcraBAQ490q-Whk_yCyg8/s640/blogger-image--315429429.jpg"></a></div></div><div>I did manage to grab a small treat now and again though.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqSLhyphenhyphenOk287DKQpj9Kd2H3insCld181cM9iFxlq-tv26lIHX5AR6eWMphAQRUzkADFlL3rUC5nSBlZkomRGXJuuxBQrveyzQnhXOc0MkS6sKs5kkPkqYlAYQ5NrL1IMIYnn8xw1hS4a24/s640/blogger-image-928727387.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqSLhyphenhyphenOk287DKQpj9Kd2H3insCld181cM9iFxlq-tv26lIHX5AR6eWMphAQRUzkADFlL3rUC5nSBlZkomRGXJuuxBQrveyzQnhXOc0MkS6sKs5kkPkqYlAYQ5NrL1IMIYnn8xw1hS4a24/s640/blogger-image-928727387.jpg"></a></div></div><div>And we had a fantastic family get together last weekend with four generations all together for a few days.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSNg8nz73svCx70sQywNlc5Q-LRUXCZPyzPoD7JDSRL9NK4HoEUeNBuGAXzyA51jv19zqzWZUJpVzcwVcCvNqp0xhyAapwBdnRlTsJRs0bn637Fw3S3WVrr0luWEppSfea7jrckqkrhY/s640/blogger-image--1550432494.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSNg8nz73svCx70sQywNlc5Q-LRUXCZPyzPoD7JDSRL9NK4HoEUeNBuGAXzyA51jv19zqzWZUJpVzcwVcCvNqp0xhyAapwBdnRlTsJRs0bn637Fw3S3WVrr0luWEppSfea7jrckqkrhY/s640/blogger-image--1550432494.jpg"></a></div></div><div>More news soon with a the possibility of some VERY EXCITING NEWS FOR EMBROIDERED ORIGINALS. - I'll keep you posted. </div><div><br></div><div>Meanwhile, coffee over it's back to work. It's Edinburgh Festival time again and we've had our usual pitch in the West End Craft Fair for the past three weeks.<div>Bob makes the trek through to the city every day while I provide back up at home, making stock for the next day and handling the orders coming in from the website and our stockists.</div><div>It's been quite an amazing year for the craft fair really - not sure why but sales have been well up almost every day on last year. The settled weather probably has a lot to do with it and there seems to have been more visitors too, all adding up to a very successful event. </div><div>So it's drawing to a close now. Two more days and then our little chalet gets packed up again till next year, and we collapse in a heap.<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeOA9kHR0UtiN03RW_WdzEUleE80EDH3o0H8mCPM5kDciEOv94WVV-kpU8yCrfLolH5Gg2jxhcQBkmqOjqLF_rnx9plFhFWfRwZxb85KpqXCsOIQxM5vyBQbp99rGvrgQH0Lz8BHpObI/s640/blogger-image-1715158280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeOA9kHR0UtiN03RW_WdzEUleE80EDH3o0H8mCPM5kDciEOv94WVV-kpU8yCrfLolH5Gg2jxhcQBkmqOjqLF_rnx9plFhFWfRwZxb85KpqXCsOIQxM5vyBQbp99rGvrgQH0Lz8BHpObI/s640/blogger-image-1715158280.jpg"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeOA9kHR0UtiN03RW_WdzEUleE80EDH3o0H8mCPM5kDciEOv94WVV-kpU8yCrfLolH5Gg2jxhcQBkmqOjqLF_rnx9plFhFWfRwZxb85KpqXCsOIQxM5vyBQbp99rGvrgQH0Lz8BHpObI/s640/blogger-image-1715158280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjogY6SvF3huYhL_8rSlsFj21QY65lo-dRE-UAqEHizuUUv_FRYwgT0NmyyQUunuMRbhec3HP8LMmCxYvb6rRNkLd1VI4day5LkgBMQokcxf8m7LgIonIr3c5HkGW6hLRDIWJSY84RSdXo/s640/blogger-image--12731998.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjogY6SvF3huYhL_8rSlsFj21QY65lo-dRE-UAqEHizuUUv_FRYwgT0NmyyQUunuMRbhec3HP8LMmCxYvb6rRNkLd1VI4day5LkgBMQokcxf8m7LgIonIr3c5HkGW6hLRDIWJSY84RSdXo/s640/blogger-image--12731998.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpFZNmVeQB4WVVsjGeHBjh-icufa30p1pF8FclVEyD13y5odmPiznzBlfTMmznTfqXsImrX4VJfBgJkxG73rg6F_DHhZ0OVn89TqRsMDo-zfdf4GJMdtbcxPoQ_Chr5QiNwoOytLUYsW8/s640/blogger-image-1578078792.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpFZNmVeQB4WVVsjGeHBjh-icufa30p1pF8FclVEyD13y5odmPiznzBlfTMmznTfqXsImrX4VJfBgJkxG73rg6F_DHhZ0OVn89TqRsMDo-zfdf4GJMdtbcxPoQ_Chr5QiNwoOytLUYsW8/s640/blogger-image-1578078792.jpg"></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbrOwHpmPEJCvEPFyTcQq2I5OCu9ffPHFYNiAOcmab_asLv0d-3S16IA8noU6WNBYpjzbgTIL5F39TSsBrv3lHiwVfGxtGycmy8-_exBbHVbb2H9Pkm79OiMKYjR1OjmXUx6xQTGeZ5FU/s640/blogger-image-1464410989.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbrOwHpmPEJCvEPFyTcQq2I5OCu9ffPHFYNiAOcmab_asLv0d-3S16IA8noU6WNBYpjzbgTIL5F39TSsBrv3lHiwVfGxtGycmy8-_exBbHVbb2H9Pkm79OiMKYjR1OjmXUx6xQTGeZ5FU/s640/blogger-image-1464410989.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgokb42I45-VFRMZFLB5wydQ8pmqqKdcQ_zPbAnCi924yY7xHFYYuvQVytDN0mYfRk-hLwaoM6PKGkaeVCb8kT2VkUM02RVoQleGmxyRWV-id2WbpKUZURXPA2vA4rvJm9hF3MJhGAsjlk/s640/blogger-image--510657916.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgokb42I45-VFRMZFLB5wydQ8pmqqKdcQ_zPbAnCi924yY7xHFYYuvQVytDN0mYfRk-hLwaoM6PKGkaeVCb8kT2VkUM02RVoQleGmxyRWV-id2WbpKUZURXPA2vA4rvJm9hF3MJhGAsjlk/s640/blogger-image--510657916.jpg"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgislNPuYH8o1MHnkqlL2cOTiBRYsB3puyRRLcUb74IwbnTz95_VYH9rAzCJkYUcjhEu59pblX5kkgsEvpIwCesvG4mu3PH1n5qVkDYi_3DLtNv3VHs0fUUEFB-mWLs7YeMJ0WGo5cph50/s640/blogger-image--1566544914.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgislNPuYH8o1MHnkqlL2cOTiBRYsB3puyRRLcUb74IwbnTz95_VYH9rAzCJkYUcjhEu59pblX5kkgsEvpIwCesvG4mu3PH1n5qVkDYi_3DLtNv3VHs0fUUEFB-mWLs7YeMJ0WGo5cph50/s640/blogger-image--1566544914.jpg"></a></div></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-20057152295175867062013-07-16T23:30:00.001+01:002013-07-16T23:30:06.045+01:00Hot and stickyThat's how it feels tonight. A blur of wind, rain and chills. <br />
But forget all that, we are off to sunnier climes very soon. <br />
One of these beautiful old houses looking out over the sea at Antibes on the French Riviera is going to be our home for a week, along with our extended family, including the youngest member who is already getting into the part with his sun hat and cool shades. It's been less than a year since we were there last year but I can't wait. Love it.<br />
<br />
And then when we come home we have a lot of interesting work challenges ahead as major changes are going to made to our little cottage in the form of some serious building work - the kind where some people would consider moving out for a few months while the builders move in. Except we won't just be living amongst it, we'll be trying to work in the midst of it too.<br />
More about that later.<br />

Not too long to go until Gardening Scotland rolls round again too. That's our first big event of the year - it seems such a long time since Christmas. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_zqTkKRjXFNY1MizGyPv04STbHux0CTdt5MWzudQS8-Lulp2LDeHef_B6z27H1HBJxkMMJPZdr-aXG4UHlaE4FPiaMvVRtNe-vZmYRrUwMT08IA60RiarZFARePV7u1QgjGUknakiZr8/s640/blogger-image--2126047743.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_zqTkKRjXFNY1MizGyPv04STbHux0CTdt5MWzudQS8-Lulp2LDeHef_B6z27H1HBJxkMMJPZdr-aXG4UHlaE4FPiaMvVRtNe-vZmYRrUwMT08IA60RiarZFARePV7u1QgjGUknakiZr8/s640/blogger-image--2126047743.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgatfHg0b3q9Ivo5xshL4ADXsOtb0Tz10NfigzKkXMTOQCkFoeinsBP9sVb0z4U5aLhmox3u_mJF_o2N4SfowWBMNcvM-Ra-6yBdWuNztZ0sJb0fItEuK-O3JfHRdV08WOgEAMmZjRM4zM/s640/blogger-image-135595178.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgatfHg0b3q9Ivo5xshL4ADXsOtb0Tz10NfigzKkXMTOQCkFoeinsBP9sVb0z4U5aLhmox3u_mJF_o2N4SfowWBMNcvM-Ra-6yBdWuNztZ0sJb0fItEuK-O3JfHRdV08WOgEAMmZjRM4zM/s640/blogger-image-135595178.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-38327869914888044352013-02-24T22:55:00.001+00:002013-02-24T23:00:35.303+00:00Covering ScotlandI'm quite proud of this. I was intending to update the list of stockists on our website, which meant laboriously typing out each name and address - and there are rather a lot now - when I thought I could maybe make a map showing where they all are.<br />
Google's great. One quick question how I could do it, and there it was. Very easy.<br />
Not only do I have all the shops, galleries and garden centres which stock our cards on the map but you can click on them to see their address, opening hours, website etc. Very clever Google.<br />
This pic is just a screen shot. If you want the interactive map just click here<br />
<a href="http://www.embroideredoriginals.co.uk/stockists-in-scotland-c-175.html?zenid=982e988877a55c53175171367ef1c021">http://www.embroideredoriginals.co.uk/stockists-in-scotland-c-175.html?zenid=982e988877a55c53175171367ef1c021</a><br />
Have a go and see if there is a stockist near you. ( Sorry if you are in England, no shops there yet. On the other hand if you are in San Francisco, Toronto or Vancouver then you're in luck! Contact me for details!) <br />

Phew! That's all I can say. Since the beginning of the year we've been drowning in a sea of tartan hearts - tiny ones, middle sized, long ones, fat ones - most, thankfully, cut out for us by our laser cutter and all destined to grace the front of our Valentine cards.<br />
We wore out one ink jet printer and used up all our red fabric paint. <br />
Scottish Valentine cards found their way to US Canada Australia Finland Ireland to name but a few and my late nights stretched to a record breaking 3.45am.<br />
But that's it for another year. I hope we managed to add to the romantic Scots and expats' valentine experience!<br />
As for us - a posh meal(at home), nice bottle of wine, decadent pud, box of chocs and a set of bellows comprised our Valentine's evening. Whoa - what? Bellows? Don't ask.... <br />
So now our sights are set on Mother's Day. It's early this year, March 10th so better get on. <br />

Wishful thinking maybe.<br />
So I thought I'd share a bit of summer in the beautiful floral designs produced by Laura Mysak, my talented daughter. <br />
You can see a whole collection of her work here<br />

We are enjoying a few days of happy family down time with a visit from a special little honorary Scot in his Mitchell tartan kilt.<br />
A bracing walk along the beach yesterday to see the last sunset of the old year from the pier at Lower Largo, after a basket of chips and a pint in the Crusoe Hotel. <br />

We're enjoying a lazy few days watching telly and catching up with family. <br />
All the cards, fabric and paint have been tidied away until next week, but I'm already getting itchy fingers!<br />
The rest of the family arrive on Saturday to spend New Year with us, including little Ewan complete with kilt in the Mitchell tartan which his Daddy has bought in honour of his first Hogmanay in Scotland!<br />
Happy New Year when it comes - I hope it brings good times for all. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVaDihJAfw7WSWn3FoOhnYaYV6ZxbOtJbHjZVU7Rqumbfi2E1Y7MIzWovwavsi8jAlo0V3TPA6hutZx1Yr1Fe_FD9zD7FgGZOL_knb6mSRuOCF5l2vD1YDRPyTW9wgWTb4WHgTAb5KdVE/s640/blogger-image-407294570.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVaDihJAfw7WSWn3FoOhnYaYV6ZxbOtJbHjZVU7Rqumbfi2E1Y7MIzWovwavsi8jAlo0V3TPA6hutZx1Yr1Fe_FD9zD7FgGZOL_knb6mSRuOCF5l2vD1YDRPyTW9wgWTb4WHgTAb5KdVE/s640/blogger-image-407294570.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-31522459101770658442012-12-11T23:59:00.001+00:002012-12-11T23:59:05.479+00:00It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...Almost.<br />
We finished up on Saturday with the street fair in Perth. As I said in my last post I was hoping for good weather - at this time of year it could have been anything from howling gale to 2 feet of snow. As it turned out it was OK, a bit damp underfoot but not too cold and it stayed dry most of the day.<br />
We didn't expect the same record sales as two weeks ago but it was fine nonetheless. And I got a bit of Christmas shopping done too.<br />
Since Saturday I've managed to keep up to date with website orders, and most have been dispatched within twenty four hours.<br />
We've had a steady stream of top up orders of Christmas cards for our stockists this week and they should all be done by tomorrow.<br />
Then we'll see. <br />
A bit of tidying up and Christmas preparations can begin! <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFf6-o9kJkp-Rgs_9vkq9BQNrIZzE6Tj6jQp1t9986Q9GLWfBC03alp7d9vh_daVQANLuDHl8WihJZKPv4Zgz7qzviiTNMl50k_pGcr4_z5SYlENIDi3TBvnZfw-WeO0AWyO9sH9i1c_0/s640/blogger-image--1028122827.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFf6-o9kJkp-Rgs_9vkq9BQNrIZzE6Tj6jQp1t9986Q9GLWfBC03alp7d9vh_daVQANLuDHl8WihJZKPv4Zgz7qzviiTNMl50k_pGcr4_z5SYlENIDi3TBvnZfw-WeO0AWyO9sH9i1c_0/s640/blogger-image--1028122827.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-29520982117818500972012-12-02T22:48:00.001+00:002012-12-02T22:48:08.314+00:00Last Fair of the YearNext Saturday sees us back in Perth for the outdoor Christmas Craft Market. This will be the last event of 2012 for us although it's fair to say that we've cut back quite a lot on shows this year.<br />
We've got orders to get ready for stockists around the country first of all this week and then it will be heads down to prepare stock for the weekend.<br />
I hope the weather is as kind to us this Saturday as it was when we did the same market a couple of weeks ago. Very cold and crisp, but sunny and still - perfect Christmas street fair weather. The shoppers were out in force and we had a stunning day breaking the record for sales.<br />
We sold out of these, so they're top of the list to make in the next few days. <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ25uFngO9DcaKpkdNW0QDhWpXgBztzSOODf0M8CUk0f2dYNIKgNDjM7s5RW5FB_KhDVojnCk1OyTyFY5DbEC_XKrz5oIDe7Jgae_hAhd5Bs84XId9jBXRNpxDesx8HN-fMl8aEZzqvXQ/s640/blogger-image--131734442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZ25uFngO9DcaKpkdNW0QDhWpXgBztzSOODf0M8CUk0f2dYNIKgNDjM7s5RW5FB_KhDVojnCk1OyTyFY5DbEC_XKrz5oIDe7Jgae_hAhd5Bs84XId9jBXRNpxDesx8HN-fMl8aEZzqvXQ/s640/blogger-image--131734442.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-50615732067504431052012-12-01T09:54:00.001+00:002012-12-01T09:54:03.160+00:00Happy First of DecemberI can't quite believe we've got to this time of the year already. Last time I looked up it was still trying to be summer.<br />
But here we are, our Christmas rush beginning to calm down and suddenly I can draw breath and think about things other than getting orders out and keeping stock levels up.<br />
The website is still busy with orders which is great, but the shop orders are getting smaller as the Christmas card demand always tails off in December.<br />
Last night was one of those sleepless ones where my brain was buzzing with ideas and projects which have been on the back burner for months. Everything from rearranging my workspace to planning new designs, new products even - not just cards. And I had to resist the temptation in the early hours to get up and start shifting furniture! I definitely wouldn't have been popular!<br />
So I'm going to be a grown up and start by making a list - and tidying up I think should come top today.<br />
This is my work table after yesterday's orders were dispatched.<br />
And as it's that season here is Ewan and a little red breasted friend. Can you spot him? <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9May9_6jrc4xrw-x5UptpRPNgjHqBybGwxxcd7y7ZitNZNtnSWeC1JhnyMLjlaB2pT_XMzHS1L3L0aWr5IZ-npHDYUrZ8XpvdBQ3AaMVVhBCOvqtD5seYxYnQhZlthYOneECiYHmxaFI/s640/blogger-image--1781116698.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9May9_6jrc4xrw-x5UptpRPNgjHqBybGwxxcd7y7ZitNZNtnSWeC1JhnyMLjlaB2pT_XMzHS1L3L0aWr5IZ-npHDYUrZ8XpvdBQ3AaMVVhBCOvqtD5seYxYnQhZlthYOneECiYHmxaFI/s640/blogger-image--1781116698.jpg" /></a></div> <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GTfJrbO9f5BpyJBPmYBcXQFIXaGA3gJ_XYtiMbHRArArmHFh69FLX1Gp_gH18Mvu4YmA1HH4aRWiLeuugWuNlM9Gg8A_HpnDw9UwNij120GVEtbOxndqbwJ9lJJcVdDJx4Mksb8js9Y/s640/blogger-image-1037428223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9GTfJrbO9f5BpyJBPmYBcXQFIXaGA3gJ_XYtiMbHRArArmHFh69FLX1Gp_gH18Mvu4YmA1HH4aRWiLeuugWuNlM9Gg8A_HpnDw9UwNij120GVEtbOxndqbwJ9lJJcVdDJx4Mksb8js9Y/s640/blogger-image-1037428223.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-81054944765199776272012-10-20T02:02:00.000+01:002012-10-20T02:02:17.125+01:00Christmas is under wayHello from the Christmas card factory!<br />
It's all systems go now to make sure that our stockists throughout Scotland ( and the rest of the world) are fully set up with their Christmas card orders.<br />
That means long days and nights drawing, cutting, printing, bonding, painting, folding, bagging, boxing and finally DISPATCHING! Phew.<br />
We're on target though and soon we'll be able to take a breather - once all 200 or so shops, galleries and garden centres have opened their boxes and started selling.<br />
We'll have repeat orders to do before Christmas, but there will be time to tidy up a bit, take stock and plan the new designs for 2013.<br />
We galloped through September by having a week in the South of France, followed by a few days with family in Cambridge, followed by a few days in Glasgow at the Trade Fair, all of which was very enjoyable.<br />

And I got round to adding a whole host of new Christmas designs to the website the other day which resulted in a flurry of orders from as far afield as Virginia,USA and Spain.<br />

Things have just got in the way of blogging, and I kind of enjoyed the silence for a while.<br />
No promises I'll be back regularly...but I'll try.<br />
So what has kept me away? Well I'd like to say it was because I was off on some world adventure, but the truth is life has been mostly so boringly predictable that I'd have to have <br />
invented stuff to make this blog interesting!<br />
This old work/life balance thing again.<br />

As it is such an inspirational mag for me, I lost myself happily in it for a while. <br />
Although someone was less than impressed!<div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1s70UcBdHZdIA5s9CCVW4mkrKdCRNeW63e8gm3nivb0ci0KGQoqS79AjiQwMKm9V277UlUSTYLxdWf1EMviRA90lSXd38T9wMICikXvALS72csZNk-9SrTYKIVLD2-HHoCEQL3rAelAo/s640/blogger-image--1147301582.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1s70UcBdHZdIA5s9CCVW4mkrKdCRNeW63e8gm3nivb0ci0KGQoqS79AjiQwMKm9V277UlUSTYLxdWf1EMviRA90lSXd38T9wMICikXvALS72csZNk-9SrTYKIVLD2-HHoCEQL3rAelAo/s640/blogger-image--1147301582.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ4lcFGU-YechwIqs_YaDjUISWeyHvHjleSa5GF16MAo2idz5F2bwl10Ufyf58d2L_E6BaOlHbWDhu7fY2z4TY-p75fi7zLttzGFzSduZ7wjc1AjBHxJtlRUrQx00o4RrEMMfDWJqF4Hk/s640/blogger-image-2011465769.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJ4lcFGU-YechwIqs_YaDjUISWeyHvHjleSa5GF16MAo2idz5F2bwl10Ufyf58d2L_E6BaOlHbWDhu7fY2z4TY-p75fi7zLttzGFzSduZ7wjc1AjBHxJtlRUrQx00o4RrEMMfDWJqF4Hk/s640/blogger-image-2011465769.jpg" /></a></div>Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-37853964524012066222012-03-01T18:56:00.002+00:002012-03-01T20:00:32.402+00:00M is for Mother's DayThis is what I've up to my eyes in for the past few weeks. Since the last Valentine card order was packed up and dispatched it's been full speed ahead for Mother's Day (18th March in the UK). Fiona has cut out hundreds of Ms and Us, and I've been doing likewise - I can just about cut out 8 layers at a time before my hands complain.<br />
This is what a tray of hearts looks like - used for Valentine, Mother's Day, weddings etc and the variety of fabrics grows all the time.<br />
And Barbara has had a full day of stitching to catch up with the Spring surge of website orders.<br />
It's not just the Spring flowers which are putting on a growth spurt in this lovely weather. Look at how this little one has developed in the last three months!<br />
PS Another blog via my iPhone. Very handy but I can't seem to insert the photos where they should be along with the text. Sorry<br />

Starting with the highlights -<br />
<ul><li>JANUARY - we were given a gentle nudge by our accountants to maybe spend some money! How about advice like that to start the year. To explain I have to go right back to 1996 when we made a major (brave/foolhardy) decision for Bob to leave his secure teaching job and become a full time partner in our little business. It was a decision of the heart rather than the head. If we'd sat down and considered it objectively it probably never would have happened. As it was we took a gamble - I had gone as far as I could without another full time pair of hands, and he was just about at the end of his tether with his job. So we took the plunge, with two teenage children not far off university and a mortgage to pay. That was when we realised the fragility of our income and how important it was to keep a tight rein on our expenses. We've come a long way since then, thankfully never regretting the decision. The kids went off to uni and the mortgage was paid off but we still equated every penny that came in with the hours of work that took to make it (slight exaggeration) and with the belief that it could all go belly up at any time we put any major plans which cost money on hold. Then when your ACCOUNTANT tells you to SPEND some of your hard earned cash rather than see it dwindle in the bank.......</li>
<li>FEBRUARY By now we had new living room furniture and plans under way for new windows. That was the first dip into the bank account. It got a boost from the Trade Show though where we amazed ourselves by doubling the orders we took the year before. Suddenly the quiet half of the year was no longer quiet and we were working just about as hard to keep up as the usually frantic months of October and November. We got feedback from our stockists that the cards were flying out the door, with some telling us that sale of our cards was paying THEIR mortgage! The new windows were money well spent and very overdue.</li>

The workload was becoming frankly ridiculous and we just rolled our eyes at the thought of how we would cope when the Christmas rush started. I was supposed to, by now, have the new Christmas card designs ready and photograhed for the brochure but there was just no time. We also heard at this time that our oldest and one of our best stockists was closing their shop at Glasgow Airport. A potential blow to our income as they regularly ordered once a fortnight. However they moved on to premises in the centre of Glasgow and the orders kept coming in. Not only that, but since they no longer had the monopoly on us for the airport, we picked up another outlet there, which is proving to be just as successful.</div></li>
<li><div align="left" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">AUGUST Well that whole month is dominated by the Edinburgh Festival Craft Fair - three and a bit weeks, seven days a week. Bob made the journey over to Edinburgh as usual every day and I stayed behind making stock and continuing with the trade orders. Great team work there.</div></li>

We have been so busy this year, it would have been impossible to run a shop and cope with the workload. I still get local customers though who come to the door and that's good. So a year on and we haven't looked back.<br />
September brought other noteworthy events. We splashed the cash again and had a new bathroom installed. Gone was the green bathroom suite (oh the shame) to be replaced with sparkling white. A bit of a marathon it was, mainly due to our tiler who believed a job worth doing was worth doing well and painstakingly slowly. So although it was started in September we just about made it in time for Christmas. But it was worth it and the job was well done.<br />
We also managed to squeeze a week in Greece before the Autumn Trade Show<br />
<br />

</tbody></table>Then all hell broke loose at the Trade Fair. Did we think we were busy in July? Ha - that was nothing compared to what we had ahead of us after the show. We picked up a large number of new stockists to add to the list and the order book was bulging. We were a hive of activity from early morning to early morning - practically round the clock. It was quite funny really - as in the midst of it all we had the plumber, tiler, electrician and painter all adding to the mix at various times. Bob worked in the living room, me down the hall in the spare bedroom/studio and between us was the new bathroom. It was a regular occurrence for three or four of us to meet in the hall at once and have to squeeze past old toilet/new piping/tool kits/ paint pots whatever.<br />
<ul><li>Where are we now? Yes OCTOBER the month of the big Christmas Fairs, the continuing bathroom and the continuing orders. No sleep, no nothing but heads down and get on with it.</li>

And the news on day two of the fair that Laura had given birth to a baby boy. She is 400 odd miles away in Cambridge and I'm stuck in Glasgow unable to abandon my stand. A lot of phoning and organising and I had a flight booked at enormous expense for the day after the show to go down to see her and baby Ewan.<br />

</tbody></table><ul><li>DECEMBER Another trip down to see the baby squeezed in, a last push to get all the orders out in time for Christmas, a dash round the shops for presents and food, the tree decorated, the food cooked...and relaaaaxxx.</li>
</ul>So that it's it for 2011. I've yet to do the end of year accounts but I know our turnover is up by nearly 50% on last year ( which was our previously best ever year). We have orders coming in for 2012, half of them new customers already ahead of the Trade Fair so things are looking bright. Although I take NOTHING for granted. |It could still go belly up - that's the thing about being self employed, but I appreciate that we are in a luckier position than so many who have found themselves without a job in 2011.<br />
Now what about the LOWLIGHTS I mentioned?<br />
Well success has come at a price. Thankfully we are both fit and healthy and long may it continue, but we have sacrificed our lives to our business, more so in this past year than ever. The work/life balance is laughably tilted well over to work. You could say that's all very well but we've had weekends away, a holiday and visited family. Yes but for every day spent away from work we've added the time to the other days around it. So a fourteen hour day becomes a sixteen or seventeen hour day, and that is unsustainable.<br />
My personal time clock has gone completely haywire which is why I'm sitting here at 2.18 am. I fall asleep for catnaps during the day and manage a brief five or so hours a night. A lady of my advancing years should be getting her beauty sleep!<br />
Some things will have to change for 2012 but I haven't had the time to figure out how exactly. Meanwhile the next cash guzzler will be the kitchen - another room I'm utterly ashamed of. And boy do I have plans for that!Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943664041814315739.post-31895148150969116792012-01-03T02:49:00.000+00:002012-01-03T02:49:24.375+00:00Christmas Memories<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">So that was the Christmas holidays, that was.</div>Tonight I'm looking at the tree for the last time as tomorrow it will all be packed away for another year, along with all the memories of Christmasses past.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Now I'm not going to get nostalgic and sentimental here, although I confess that since our children have left home, I allow myself a little private nostalgia session when I look at the decorations on the tree which span all their growing up years, and more. It's so easy to remember them when they were tiny and they were in total awe of the sparkly decorations. I used to lift them both up and tell them to look for the tree fairy who lived in the Christmas tree. I said they might see her if they were very quiet (great way to calm the Christmas Eve hysteria) and look to see if they could see her moving the baubles and tinsel as she flew around. Then I would breathe as hard but silently as I could ( not blowing, just breathing) so that they were not aware of what Iwas doing, and the breeze would catch the tinsel and make it shimmer. They were enthralled, and it worked every time.</div>It's lovely to unpack the boxes of decorations each year and find old friends.<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gJeIunIfNNI/TwJg8dF-uVI/AAAAAAAABtQ/OXRj9e7eVy4/s1600/IMG_0951.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" rea="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gJeIunIfNNI/TwJg8dF-uVI/AAAAAAAABtQ/OXRj9e7eVy4/s320/IMG_0951.JPG" width="271px" /></a></div>This cheap tatty little teddy in a bag is my son's personal favourite. His Gran bought it for him when he was just a toddler and it has to have a special place every year. It doesn't have anything to hang it with so he makes sure it is tucked safely on a flat branch, and there has to be a fairy light close by to keep the teddy company. My son is 28 now of course, but when he came home this year I caught him making sure that teddy was in a good position and the fairy light was there to light him. Bless.<br />

It's a cross stitch picture which came from an old Prima magazine pattern and it was painstakingly stitched entirely by Laura when she was only seven years old. The only concession I made for her age was that I gave her Binca fabric to work it on, which is easier as the weave is bigger. She loved doing it and she made a better job than a lot of grown ups would have done ( Kirstie Allsop included!).</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">I hang it by the fire every year.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G3oa0PJFVZ8/TwJmnqRDAhI/AAAAAAAABuI/OlaA6OoRDLg/s1600/IMG_0919.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" rea="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G3oa0PJFVZ8/TwJmnqRDAhI/AAAAAAAABuI/OlaA6OoRDLg/s320/IMG_0919.JPG" width="252px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">And to create new memories, I wanted to add a special ornament this year as a minding for baby Ewan, who's First Christmas it is of course.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GAiO12xv4NI/TwJo1Ee9hPI/AAAAAAAABuU/u_wixYsyyys/s1600/IMG_0921.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" rea="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GAiO12xv4NI/TwJo1Ee9hPI/AAAAAAAABuU/u_wixYsyyys/s320/IMG_0921.JPG" width="239px" /></a></div>So here he is - found in a local shop - made of painted wood and just the very thing I had in mind. In this picture he looks huge but it's just the camera angle. He's not actually four feet tall, but sits on the mantlepiece like this<br />
<br />

Now that's a bargain I couldn't pass.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qz84eZNFiT4/TwJqLjp8z1I/AAAAAAAABus/R73RGTW_x4o/s1600/IMG_0924.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" rea="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qz84eZNFiT4/TwJqLjp8z1I/AAAAAAAABus/R73RGTW_x4o/s320/IMG_0924.JPG" width="239px" /></a></div>Just thought I'd share my son (the 28 year old's) present from his big sister. A pair of fetching knitted slipper sock things. And no, she didn't make them herself. What's more he likes them!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eTWDRfnwu7c/TwJrBqDGgKI/AAAAAAAABu4/PrOkBD69Uno/s1600/IMG_0960.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" rea="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eTWDRfnwu7c/TwJrBqDGgKI/AAAAAAAABu4/PrOkBD69Uno/s320/IMG_0960.JPG" width="239px" /></a></div>So that was it for 2011. It's time to get back to normal as the orders waiting to be sent out are beginning to take over the living room again. Quite a few have come in in the past week and encouragingly half of them are brand new customers so the holidays are well and truly over. Back on the diet tomorrow too :o(<br />

Human nature I suppose.<br />
We've caught up with ourselves at long last. All the shop orders are out and the website orders are slowing down - after all most people have sent their Christmas cards by now.<br />
So with only two orders to do for customers to collect on Wednesday, I thought I'd get them out of the way tonight. How difficult it was just to do that!<br />
This is what's called winding down.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The end of year tidying up is continuing, again slowly. The odd drawer and cupboard sorted out, out of date paperwork shredded that sort of thing.</div>Today was Christmas shopping in Edinburgh.<br />
Tomorrow is food shopping.<br />

A whole two weeks have gone by and I'm missing him like mad. So I jumped on to the Easyjet website and booked another flight down to England - that's the third trip in six weeks - and I'll be giving him a cuddle again on Tuesday. The bank balance is taking a hit, but what the hell... we won't see them at Christmas this year - just too far to bring a little one - so this is the next best thing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpUA3UGyA10kzEllBNwk6FvptYuiQgqq37bLdvH48Wu1qmhngy3roTOehRtFPOictVSQLK6HrCDQu1liuANtIQyxkZTKGDGrp5_lpENRDyOBh0jt1OKBYZrG8YNMm8LDJg-lsEOJO7Q4/s1600/197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxpUA3UGyA10kzEllBNwk6FvptYuiQgqq37bLdvH48Wu1qmhngy3roTOehRtFPOictVSQLK6HrCDQu1liuANtIQyxkZTKGDGrp5_lpENRDyOBh0jt1OKBYZrG8YNMm8LDJg-lsEOJO7Q4/s320/197.JPG" width="239px" /></a></div> He's sporting a beautiful little cardigan and hat ( slightly squint) knitted for him by his Auntie Babs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zMTjsD8wi8_cWpARfAqF1P9qH2l-DTkisOzQF88hdNHeDQRM8JpPg4s3Rxpst7nIr7cygkxr6oKBMaSFCXqMpD6HFg8HhUYFWFOgnE3voybjZpWYgpF_Rfmn7aykkJZSu2e5pCKn8Bk/s1600/205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zMTjsD8wi8_cWpARfAqF1P9qH2l-DTkisOzQF88hdNHeDQRM8JpPg4s3Rxpst7nIr7cygkxr6oKBMaSFCXqMpD6HFg8HhUYFWFOgnE3voybjZpWYgpF_Rfmn7aykkJZSu2e5pCKn8Bk/s320/205.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div> We ventured out for our morning walk again on Friday to calm serene water and peaceful colours, less than 24 hours after the famous storm which swept across Scotland on Thursday (known affectionately on Twitter as Hurricane Bawbag!) This was the first proper walk we've had in weeks, months even and it's a sign that things here at Embroidered Originals are beginning to get slowly back to normal.<br />
Ever since the beginning of August it's been non stop. Everything apart from work has been suspended and we've been like two little hamsters on our treadmill. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This year for some reason has been busier than ever with orders to supply our ever growing list of stockists and it has been almost impossible to keep up with demand. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">However we've made it this point and all of our shops have received their Christmas card orders and re-orders and re-orders...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I'm now beginning to emerge from the tunnel and look around, mainly at the devastation that constant work leaves in its wake - neglected house, garden, office etc. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But with the energy and excitement to tackle this mountain of cleaning and sorting. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">End of term feeling. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Preparing for the new year. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Flicking the switch in my brain to turn me into Superwoman. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Home baked Christmas, beautifully wrapped presents and trimmed tree. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just who am I kidding! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Although I'm crawling to bed at 3am and dreaming of polishing floors and washing windows, I know that 20 minutes with a duster and I'll be bored to tears. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Twas ever thus.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPp8Jt0slgR2HZxEAQ-2Lbpgxz3XpLkYfU66iwVY2esqN_5r2fk2q6J3Q3OuxStbhfEO4Z0mSzpyCKdMsBZML1hS0YVqBoKReYSGUDI8L3HVnUN6S71sQfvnCcFmzODp3lDOXnrC-_Gug/s1600/218.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPp8Jt0slgR2HZxEAQ-2Lbpgxz3XpLkYfU66iwVY2esqN_5r2fk2q6J3Q3OuxStbhfEO4Z0mSzpyCKdMsBZML1hS0YVqBoKReYSGUDI8L3HVnUN6S71sQfvnCcFmzODp3lDOXnrC-_Gug/s320/218.JPG" width="267px" /></a></div> And I'm even getting, ever so slightly, the urge to be creative again. If you read this blog, you'll know it happens to me every year at this time. Just when the pressure of work eases I find myself reading blogs by talented people again and mulling over tiny grains of ideas.<br />
But then January comes round, and the Trade Fair, and we're off again. So nothing ever gets past the "thinking" stage.<br />
But then what's this picture above all about? Is it something I've just knocked up between packing orders? Nooooooo..oo..don't be daft. This is a not very good photo of part of a nursery picture I made THIRTY YEARS ago for Laura when she was a baby.<br />
So it got me thinking... I now have a grandson.... and I'm ashamed to say I never even sent a card to the poor little mite. Maybe, just maybe I'll sit down over the Christmas break and make something for him.<br />
Not promising anything, but you never know.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWm_oCSqPb73KV9gxwqfEbmk0YRC3wmvkVRkMC8ghvKROjmo-hY4JE2VSrsiqVGZjbpOqoAmx3-lduYQZNujE8yijPFTqn5JWrVvm8iNBTCU0-L8osD02Ed9CiRbz2KMEu306oOqAZWM/s1600/CIMG3101.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240px" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBWm_oCSqPb73KV9gxwqfEbmk0YRC3wmvkVRkMC8ghvKROjmo-hY4JE2VSrsiqVGZjbpOqoAmx3-lduYQZNujE8yijPFTqn5JWrVvm8iNBTCU0-L8osD02Ed9CiRbz2KMEu306oOqAZWM/s320/CIMG3101.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div>So the last Craft Fair of the year for us was today, the Perth Christmas Craft Market and after the storms this week we were blessed with a dry still bright (but cold) day. I say "we" but really it was just Bob. I just turned over and went back to sleep when he crawled out of bed at 6 this morning to set off.<br />
It was his turn anyway.Marionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08827696171436657030noreply@blogger.com0
